These two whiskies show what cask finishes can do to a whisky; both started their lives as ex bourbon cask, with one having full term maturation in ex bourbon and this one being finished in an ex sherry cask. We can tell you that it’s a single malt from one of the eight distilleries on Islay and was an incredible bourbon cask.  When it was 9 years old, we felt it would absolutely excel with an additional finishing period, so we finished it for a year in an ex-red wine barrique from the famous Alter Ego, which comes from Chateau Palmer Margaux in Bordeaux. So, this bottling has a pretty impeccable pedigree.
