This special Bruichladdich was bottled for the 2019 Feis Ile, having been found by our own Brendan Pillai during a visit to the distillery the year before. As it's incredible colour suggests this was an ex-sherry cask, packed with intense flavours. Unlike the Port Charlotte or Octomore editions this is unpeated spirit, offering an excellent balance in which Bruichladdich's distinct style isn't overpowered by the cask's influence.
Bruichladdich 14 Years Old - Cask No.12 - 59.5%abv
Located on the shores of Loch Indaal, this fascinating distillery is known for a myriad of bottlings over the years. It simultaneously produces an unpeated house style, as well as the occasional release of what is literally the most heavily peated whisky on the planet, by the infamous name of 'Octomore'.
The favourite distillery of our Asia-based whisky guru, Brendan, Bruichladdich continues to produce excellent spirit that can be either heavily peated, soft and delicate or rich in ex-sherry notes. We've been lucky enough to bottle some excellent examples over the years.
Nose: Rancio & savoury hints, followed by earthy leather & dark chocolate. Complemented by sherry flavours of dried apricots & raisins.
Palate: Rich, luxurious & dense. Sherry sweetness combines with savoury elements. Sour cherries, cinnamon and sugar.
Finish: Medium to long finish, brought together by drying oak. A warming dram, very satisfying.
